The Tavistock Athletics 02's traveled to just outside of Montreal this past weekend to take part in the prestigious Quebec Rebelles Tournament and came home with the Silver Medals.
The A's went a perfect 5 and 0 in round robin play registering wins over Quebec Rebelles Pelletier 11 -4, Peterborough Thunder 15 - 0, New York Avalanche 7 - 5, PEI 13 - 0 and Brampton Gold 2 - 1.
This set the girls up as the #2 seed of 16 teams for the playoff round. In a re-match with Brampton Gold in the quarter finals, the Athletics prevailed 6 - 1. The semi finals proved to be a tense battle with Ontario rivals UTM 2k2's. After 9 hard fought innings, the A's came through with the winning run and a 4 - 3 victory.
Championship Sunday proved to be the most extreme day of heat and humidity and the back to back to back games proved too much for the A's as they were defeated by a strong Quebec Morais team in the Gold Medal Game.
The Athletics realized great success on the weekend finishing with 7 wins and 1 loss. It was an outstanding group effort from start to finish as the team continues to prepare for their National Qualifying Tournament in Windsor July 12th - 15th. Go A's Go!!!!
